If you have box tops, please collect them, and send them to school with your child! They make a huge difference! In the past we have purchased 3D printers, fiber arts materials, and due to the addition of our new kiln, we are now raising funds to purchase materials for cool ceramics projects. Thank you!

Dr. Gotcher will host a Twitter Town Hall on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, from 6:30-8 p.m. on the social media platform Twitter. During the town hall, participants will have the opportunity to give feedback on three questions: what does RSD need to start doing, what does RSD need to stop doing, and what does RSD need to continue doing. The three questions will be released at different times throughout the evening on Dr. Gotcher’s Twitter account @mlgotcher. Participants are asked to use the hashtag #RSDListens when responding to the questions.
Dr. Gotcher will be in the Board Room at the Administration Building during the Twitter Town Hall. Community members, parents, staff, and students are welcome to attend and view the tweets as they come in. The district will also release an online survey with the same questions for anyone who wants to give feedback, but doesn’t want to participate in the Twitter Town Hall.
The Twitter Town Hall is part of Dr. Gotcher’s Listen and Engage Plan that includes gathering feedback from students, parents, staff, and community members in the River Valley.

If you would like to save time waiting in line the night of the carnival, please preorder your tickets and wristbands. We are SO excited to have a night of fun with our school family!

2017-2018 Flu Clinic
The Russellville School District, in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH), is providing the flu vaccine to students and staff the week of October 16-20. Flu packets will be sent home with students over the next several weeks. Please read, complete, and sign the ADH consent form (front and back) and the RSD FERPA form. See the Documents section of our website for the latest Specialist Scoop Newsletter!

PTO Welcome Packets are coming home today!! These bright yellow forms are full of information regarding PTO membership, ways to volunteer at CVE, and the student directory. Please return the forms with your child as soon as possible.
We need lots of parents and volunteers to pull off various events throughout the year. PTO gives classroom teachers $100 every year to buy necessary supplies for their classrooms, provides dinners to teachers on conference nights, funds field trips, birthday buttons, spelling bee awards, reading awards, teacher appreciation week, and a book for each child at Christmas. We host Fall Fest, Cougar Christmas, and the Spring fundraiser. We also raise money to fund projects around the school, and we are currently working on getting a rock wall for our PE program!
We hope you will consider joining this wonderful organization to continue making CVE the place to be!

Tips for Dismissal:
Always have your car tag visible. Place your car tag on the visor of your vehicle so it may be easily seen by the duty teachers. ANYONE without a car rider tag will be required to show their I.D. and will have to wait for approval from the office before leaving with the student.
Kindergarten and 1st grade students and their older siblings must be picked up in the back (change from last year).
Place student car seats on the passenger side of your vehicle.
Do not pass another car in the car rider line unless directed by a duty teacher.
Form 3 lines at the top of the back drive and take turns pulling into the circle drive. When buses arrive, cars may no longer enter the circle drive, but may form a line in the top lane closest to Center Valley Road until buses exit the circle drive. Parents picking up older students riding a bus from town may park in the gravel lot north of Center Valley Road until buses leave CVE.

PTO Drawing
Thank you for joining PTO on Open House night! We had a lot of wonderful parents stop by the table and pay their membership dues for this year. We took the names of those people who joined last week and drew three names for prizes. Amanda Cagle won the basket of CVE goodies, Lacy Miller won the four passes to an ATU football game, and Kim Moore won the $30 UEC giftcard. Congratulations!
If you didn't get a chance to fill out your membership form, a PTO Welcome Packet will be coming home soon! It will include a membership form, a list of meeting dates, a volunteer form, and all of sorts of important information. It will be on bright yellow paper, so be on the lookout. We hope you will be apart of this wonderful organization!
-Amanda Dearmon and Kristin Motley, Co Presidents
