Thank you for looking at Dwight Elementary! My name is Laura Binz, and I am blessed to have been the principal at Dwight Elementary since July 2015. I have been in education for 20 years as a classroom teacher, Gifted and Talented teacher, GT and AP Coordinator, and a principal at two different schools. I actually attended Dwight elementary as a student; I attended kindergarten and first grade at Dwight before moving to Kansas. I moved back to northwest Arkansas and graduated high school from Rogers. Arkansas Tech University is where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Masters of Education in Gifted Education, and a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership. I love Russellville, and I am honored to be part of the Russellville School District.
My husband’s name is David Binz, and he is employed at Beacon Tire. All of our children have left the nest except for our youngest, Andrea Bond, who just finished her first year of college at Wayland Baptist University. We have a unique pet, Buddy, that came from Dwight! Buddy is a squirrel that fell out of a tree on the playground when he was only a day or two old. With the help of students, we nursed Buddy back to health (talk about real world science!).
It is my desire, as the principal of Dwight, to help our faculty maintain and strengthen an environment where our students feel safe, know they are loved, and are challenged to reach their highest potential. At Dwight, we truly believe that, “Learning happens together.” We are committed to our students and our families and hope that you will join us in this awesome responsibility of growing the future.
